Nomads let loose in Gubbängen

On a crisp cold autumn morning, the team travelled down to Gubbängen for the last games of the season. Uppsala Nomads, the men's second team, took to the field for a second time this season! Composed of rookies, P18/P20s, and some Plebs veterans looking for a last bit of game time this year, the Nomads faced off against Exiles B/C.

Despite some people playing out of or trying out a new position, during the opening minutes of the game both teams went at it equally. Some solid carrying and rucking allowed the Nomads to make a lot of ground and come close to scoring. Unfortunately, this effort did not get converted into a try. The constant pressure and hard carries of the big Exiles boys eventually got the better of the Nomads as they conceded their first try out on the wing.

A couple more conceded tries and many scrums later, we find ourselves nearing the end of the game. Inside the opponents' 22, Will, who has now come on playing at 10, spots a gap in the defence and channels his inner Finn Russell with a cheeky kick through. Barely outpacing a defender over twice his age, he manages to ground the ball, scoring the first try for the Nomads this season! The Nomads had two more linebreaks down the wing, coming close to another try, but some questionable offloads prevented them from closing in on the score.

Regardless of the result, the Nomads learned a lot, and spotted many areas to improve on for the next game. After many seasons away, the Nomads managed to field a team twice this year, making for a really successful day. With all the fresh legs coming in, we are sure we are topping this next season! Lastly, a big cheers to Emil for playing his last ever game for Uppsala.
