7's Saturday

Despite the cancelled 7s qualifier this weekend, the ladies still got some good 7s games in. Rallying up 13 players from Uppsala ladies team, F18, F15 (!!) and one Berserker and two Erikslund players, the team had a great opportunity for internal training games.

After a joint warmup, the squad was split up in two teams - Stripes and Blues with Isolde Limé captaining the Stripes the whole day, and F18 player Sophie Coupland captaining Blues. The first game started of a bit hesitant, which likely was due to playing against team mates. The intensity and physicality increased throughout the game. The result at half time was 12-12 but the Blues managed to score some tries due to good line breaks and an impressive offload game in the second half, which resulted in a win 37-12. Among the tries, we should give a special mention to rookie Siri Millde scoring a try in her first ever rugby game.

For the second game, the coaches decided to go for youngsters (F18/15 accompanied by the youngest players from the senior team) vs oldies games. The first half of the game really highlighted the experience in the younger players, where most have played rugby for several years already. The youngsters won the first half with 17-0, and while the oldies caught up with a 12-10 win of the second half, the game ended in a 27-12 win for the youngsters.

All in all, the coaches were very happy to see some great runs, linebreaks, and offload plays. The teams adapted the game plan to the teams at hand which shows great leadership and decision making on the pitch.
