Season send off at Fyrisfjädern

Team URFC!

URFCs women's team had their final games of the season this Sunday. Some 50-60 players from seven clubs met up at Fyrisfjädern for a development 10s tournament in five mixed teams: Uppsala, Berserkers, Hammarby/Berserkers, Exiles/Erikslund and Umeå/Södertälje.

Uppsala played their first game against Hammarby/Berserkers. The game started off a little bit shaky in the first half, with Hammarby taking the lead with an early try. With a "new" team consisting of many rookies, F18 players, and one old girl, and with players playing a bit out of position, it took a while to gel together and getting used to play with each other. The game ended with two tries to Hammarby and one for Uppsala.

The next game against Exiles looked much better on Uppsala's side. In the first half we saw a lot of solo performances, so for the second half the coaches asked for more selfless plays from the experienced players and to work to score team tries. We did not keep track of the scores but it was great seeing tries scored from the unusual suspects like Lauren Davies and rookie Siri Millde. The players that felt like playing more rugby were offered to merge with Hammarby, Exiles and Erikslund for at 15s game against Berserkers/Umeå/Södertälje. It was a bit chaotic at times but great fun to see so many players coming together to enjoy rugby.
