5th place playoff 1/2 v Gothenburg

Heavy rain leading up to this Saturday made you think the pitch would be a mud bath, but the grounds at Gubbängen turned out to be surprisingly fine. Uppsala Berserkers had a lot of players available and had to select a squad for the first time this season! As always, focus was on giving newbies game time and building long term consistency.

Handling errors from both teams made sure there was no lack of scrums during the afternoon. In this particular set piece, the forwards had a rough day against a Gothenburg pack where every player was bigger than their opposite number. The home team got pushed off the ball a few times, and it was generally not a clean ball for the scrum halves. Lines were run from a back line deep as Titanic, and both teams were tackling a-plenty; unfortunately lack of close support made it unnecessarily easy for Gothenburg to jackal our ball at the breakdowns. This has been a reoccurring problem all through the year and will have to be addressed during off season.

URFC Berserkers managed to score one try through Dani Sakai Ellis, but also wasted several chances, leaving a lingering feeling of disappointment. Gothenburg lead 20-7 in the playoff with the return match scheduled for next weekend.
